Tommy's Supermarine Spitfire
Welcome to my Spitfire Project
I originally built my own Loehle P5151Mustang and completed it in
1998. I enjoyed the construction phase so much that I took on the
construction of a set of Mustang wings and retracts for another
individual. While doing this project, I ended up with a complete
fuselage kit for the P5151. One thing has led to another and now
this fuselage kit has turned into a Spitfire Replica. My goal is to
create a Spitfire that is a little faster, a little heavier and a little more
stable in a 10knot wind than my P5151 Mustang. Even though I love
my Loehle P5151 Mustang, my Spitfire hopes to be even better.
Engine for my Supermarine Spitfire:
My Loehle P5151 Mustang uses the Rotax 582 two-stroke
engine which has been very good but it doesn't sound like
and airplane engine. The Geo Tracker four-stroke auto
engine has been well researched for use in experimental
aircraft and with help from
people like Cleo Greenhaw
from Ponca City, Oklahoma,
I hope to install this engine in
my Spit. With about 80 hp,
electronic ignition, and
reliability, the Geo is
my choice of powerplant. Clarke's Geo Engine
Plans for the future:
While what I'm doing now would be considered "Research" I hope
to be able to create Spitfires for others in the future.
